Earlier this month, Assassin's Creed Origins Game Director Ashraf Ismail revealed that the team is putting a lot of love into the PC version of the game. The game is set in Ancient Egypt during the Ptolemaic period and recounts the fictional history of real-world events.

Microsoft started its gamescom 2017 press conference with a spanking new Assassin's Creed Origins trailer. While the term to keep in mind here is "cinematic", the trailer, which plays out to Leonard Cohen's "You Want It Darker," is mysterious and packed with combat.

It continues the franchise's tradition of introducing relevant historical characters that lend weight and credibility to the games, from King Richard the Lionheart to Queen Victoria. Mathematician, astronomer, and poet, Ptolemy, can also be seen in the trailer.

However, you could argue that this trailer rests on its laurels a bit.

Assassin's Creed Origins will take players to Ancient Egypt, where players will be able to witness the origin story of the Assassin's Brotherhood.

In a previous interview with Gamespot, Yves Guillamot CEO of Ubisoft mentioned that the company have struck a deal with Microsoft.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin's Creed: Origins will release on Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on October 27, 2017.
