Video footage has since emerged of the incident, in which Spears can be heard asking: "What's going on?"

Britney Spears returned to her Las Vegas residency on Wednesday night after taking the summer off, but was greeted by a stage invader during her performance of (You Drive Me) Crazy.

In a video, Spears does not notice at first that a man is getting slammed to the floor by security guards behind her on stage. Then, Spears walks off stage with security.

The star was performing a routine to Stronger with a group of dancers at Planet Hollywood when the man, wearing a black tank top and jeans, ran onto the stage from the wings and stood behind the group.

Luckily, her background dancers and security guards took the guy down before he got very far.

TMZ reported he was acting in a disorderly manner during the show and was asked to leave, at which point he leaped on stage. The man, 37-year-old Jesse Webb, was arrested and charged with trespassing.

She is then surrounded by other members of the security staff and is escorted off stage as the man is bundled, struggling, in the opposite direction.

Jason Blackhurst from Melbourne, Australia shared footage of the incident with 9news.com.au and said, "When they moved him off the stage everybody started chanting 'Britney, Britney'".
