Real Madrid star striker Cristiano Ronaldo will hope to clinch the Best FIFA Men's Player 2017 award for the second time after being named among the 24-man shortlisted candidates for this year's coveted prize.

A frustrating first campaign in the Premier League has not stopped Pep Guardiola being shortlisted for The Best FIFA Men's Coach award.

Of the current Spanish and European champions, seven players feature in all - namely Ronaldo, Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos.

Champions League finalists with Juventus, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and teammate Paulo Dybala are also in the running, alongside former Juventus player Leonardo Bonucci, who has since signed for AC Milan.

Alexis Sanchez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, N'Golo Kante and Eden Hazard are the others recognised for their Premier League exploits, while England internationals Bronze and Taylor are up for the women's award.

The main contender for the award is considered the French coach of real Madrid Zinedine Zidane, under whose leadership the "Cream" became the first club in the history of the Champions League, defended the status of the victor.

Zinedine Zidane will be optimistic of winning the award after guiding Real Madrid to a back -to- back Champions League glory and also winning the La Liga title.

Holland forward Vivianne Miedema is also a contender for The Best FIFA Women's Player, while Carli Lloyd, who spent part of last season on loan at Manchester City, is another among the 10 shortlisted. The Houston Dash midfielder had a loan spell at Manchester City last season.

A final trio of nominees will now be decided by a combination of a public vote, which runs between Aug 21 and Sept 7, as well as input from national team captains, coaches, and a panel of media representatives.
