Minnesota Coach PJ Fleck Surprises Kicker with Full Scholarship

Minnesota Golden Gophers placekicker Justin Juenemann may never view T-shirt cannons the same way again after he was surprised by head coach P.J. Fleck on Wednesday.

It's always a special moment when a walk-on player learns they are earning a scholarship - and that's without a T-shirt cannon, a friend, and FaceTime with an elated mother. Kyle said that Juenemann is one of his favorite players after hearing that Fleck chose to give Kyle the chance to deliver an unforgettable surprise to Juenemann. "He could easily not do it, and nobody would say anything".

"I've never seen anybody serve and give more than that guy", Fleck said of Juenemann.

Juenemann appeared on ESPN's Sportscenter to discuss the scholarship on Thursday.

The kicker took to Twitter to thank everyone involved for him getting a scholarship. "All of the emotions running through me at the time and the fact that Coach Fleck and Kyle went through that effort to create a special moment is wonderful".

"It will be something I won't ever forget", Juenemann said.

Juenemann is a redshirt senior who hasn't seen game action for the Gophers in his three years on the team. The kicker is the backup to all-Big Ten kicker Emmit Carpenter.
