Saturday's casualty has taken the toll in floods to more than 150 across five north-eastern states - Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland.

Following the devasting flood, around 64,000 people are homeless and forced them to take shelter in the relief camps set up by the districts administration.

Guwahati: Nearly 3.55 lakh people in 15 districts have been affected badly by a fresh wave of floods in Assam.

Crop land damage was in areas of 1,00,441.70 hectares.

The worst affected district in upper Assam are Lakhimpur, Tinsukia and Dhemaji and in lower Assam, it is Chirang, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar.

The water level in the main channel of Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger mark in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tezpur and Dhubri while at least eight of its tributaries are also flowing above the danger level, according to the report of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

The NDRF is also conducting rescue operations across the state. In last four days, 5 people lost their lives and around 10 lakh were affected by the floods.

In Agartala, the capital of Tripura, almost 20,000 people have taken shelter in relief camps.

A report of the State Emergency Response Centre of the Disaster Management wing said several major rivers, including Howrah River, which passes through the capital city, were flowing above the danger mark.

On the other hand, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday visited two flood relief camps situated at Dhelakhat at Tinsukia and Dinjoy Hazarimal Higher Secornadry School at Dibrugarh district and enquired about the arrangements for the inmates of the camps. "Embankments at many places are facing damage due to boiling, seepage and peculation", sources said.

Active Monsoon conditions are expected over Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and remaining parts of Bihar that would see light to moderate rains with few heavy spells.

He also announced a package of Rs 2,000 crore for the flood and landslide-affected states of the region.

Sankosh river in Dhubri district of Assam is also likely to flow in similar levels during the same period.
