Arsenal twice came from behind to secure a stunning 4-3 victory over Leicester City in a thrilling opening game to the new Premier League season at the Emirates tonight.

The 30-year old put his side 2-1 ahead of Arsenal in the 29th minute after a goal from Okazaki had cancelled Lacazette's opener.

On all counts. Arsene Wenger had mentioned Alexandre Lacazette's prolific strike-rate - a goal every 80 minutes last season in France - in explaining the new club record signing and the wait here was more like 80 seconds. He doesn't want to leave and I'm happy he wants to stay. We love him and in the end he made a decision to stay.

Guardiola had said last season that he wanted more English players at City but he has only added defender Kyle Walker from Tottenham and said the domestic transfer market is even crazier than Europe and the rest of the world.

Tonight's victor was his 70th Premier League goal - coming at the start of his sixth season. "We were quite good previous year on corners and overall I believe that with a bit of work we can get that out of the system", the French coach added. Giroud is in his prime, at the top of his game.

Wenger was also without three of his top centre-backs on the pitch - suspended Laurent Koscielny, injured Per Mertesacker and Shkodran Mustafi, who remained on the bench - and said the defensive mistakes can be ironed out quickly. "One was a corner, one on build-up, one on a corner again", he said.

The Catalan has looked to rectify that by spending big in the summer transfer window, almost in the excess of £200million, and City have backed that spending up in pre-season winning their last three matches. "I feel that with a bit of work we can get that out of our system".

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare gave new signing Kelechi Iheanacho his debut in place of midfielder Matty James for the last 10 minutes of the game but the Nigerian star failed to sparkle.

"The teams that arrive, in the first four, five, six games they are so complicated".

"Fortunately for us, there isn't any player in our team or squad that doesn't know the Premier League or the Premier League players and their qualities".
