Vikas Barala, son of Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Subhash Barala was sent to a 14-day judicial custody along with his friend Ashish in the Chandigarh stalking case on Saturday afternoon, reported ABP News.

Amid tight police security, both were presented before the court of duty magistrate Gaurav Dutta.

On Thursday, defence counsel Surya Prakash Garg had pleaded "not guilty" for the accused.

The court accepted the application, and the accused will now be produced before it on August 24. Earlier, both the accused had been sent to the police remand for two days till August 12. Regarding the incident, there was a huge outrage on the streets and in Parliament.

"We are investigating facts and will take strict action if some lapse is found", Gurugram's Commissioner of Police Sandeep Khiwar said.

Meanwhile, investigators are still clueless about the whereabouts of the vehicle and the persons accused, police said on Friday. But they were released later on bail.

The duo, Vikas Barala and Ashish Kumar, were first arrested on the night of August 4 for stalking and harassing Varnika Kundu (Daughter of IAS officer) for almost 45 minutes.

The summon was issued to the duo under 160 Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and the case has been filed against Barala under Section 354D (stalking), 341 (wrongful restraint), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 185 MV Act (rash driving).

Director General of Police, Chandigarh, Tajender Singh Luthra said "on charges of attempt to abduction the duo was arrested".
