Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles quelled concerns Tuesday that his arm is exhausted even though the team has reduced his practice reps in recent days.

The coach said he "probably might have misspoke when I said 'pitch count'". "It feels good. I'll be all right".

"From a quarterback standpoint, all you can do is make sure your arm is in shape", Bortles said.

"My arm is fine", Bortles said Tuesday, via ESPN's Michael DiRocco. But he'll have to overcome an inconsistent quarterback, at best, which will be a big challenge.

Marrone was asked about Bortles' downfield accuracy, which made sense because Bortles on Tuesday missed a wide-open rookie wide receiver Keelan Cole deep downfield for what would have been a touchdown. This time last year, Brotles was seen as a franchise quarterback; a lot can change in a year. Because of this, Marrone said the team has eased back on reps for the 25-year-old.

"I think it's all positive", he said. "I think at the end of the day, this is our second time, and it will be our last time in this preseason, so I think from the amount of work we've gotten out of it, the amount of situations, the different types of looks and things, I think all that stuff is going to help us as we move forward trying to get to where we want to be". "I think for me personally, I'm always trying to get more, so for me I'm one of those guys that it's hard for me to say".

Spurred by Bortles' drop-off, Robinson went from 80 receptions for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2015 down to 73 catches for 883 yards and six touchdowns past year.

Bortles could very well be heading into his final year as a Jaguar.

"So we rested him the other day", head coach Doug Marrone said, per DiRocco. In it, Robinson is shown running a route against Buccaneers defensive back Robert McClain. He has completed it to Robinson routinely, and he has completed to wide receiver Marqise Lee throughout camp consistently as well.
