Klopp fumes at Watford equaliser in 'up and down' game

Coutinho did not feature in Liverpool's season opener against Watford with a back injury ruling him out of the trip to Vicarage Road.

"We've conceded from a set-piece, that's disappointing, that needs to change quickly if we're going to do anything this season". If you concede offside goals then you can't defend them'. No, of course not.

While the Merseysiders are definitely not the best defenders in the league, their disorganization at set-pieces will leave fans disheartened as the season gathers momentum.

"The problem here are Barcelona, because they will be saying to Coutinho's representatives that it's "now or never".

"We have to work on it, no doubt". We expected a good reaction from Liverpool but we needed to be better.

Asked if Coutinho had let down his team mates with his request, Klopp said: "I am not part of the discussion with the group".

Stefano Okaka had given Watford an eighth minute lead and Abdoulaye Doucoure restored the home side's advantage a minute after Sadio Mane's 27th minute equaliser.

Coutinho is keen to join Barcelona and the Reds forward submitted a transfer request 24 hours before Liverpool opened their Premier League campaign with a 3-3 draw at Watford on Saturday.

"The day started pretty early and I had to prepare a match, even if you could not see in all moments of the game that we prepared it. It's how we do it when we want to bring players in".

"I can not really say a lot about it", he said.

"The club's definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes", the FSG statement read, issued prior to Coutinho's transfer request. "I'm responsible for all of our players, not just one or two or three, but all of them". They will be good on the counter attack against the good sides - I think they'll get good results.

"I've said it already a few times, but maybe it's not been 100% clear, but now you can read it - maybe that's the difference!" That is what I was always doing.

But the midfielder's decision to make a personal submission suggests he is determined to leave, with Barcelona ready to bid again for his services.
