Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping record signing Alexandre Lacazette can follow in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and hit the ground running in the Premier League.

"I think we have those assurances so I haven't got to worry about that".

Sergio Aguero of Manchester City celebrates scoring his sides first goal from the penalty spot with Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City during the Premier League match between Middlesbrough and Manchester City at the Riverside Stadium on April 30, 2017 in Middlesbrough, England.

Arsenal have reportedly offered Alexis Sanchez a new deal worth £300,000 a week, according to the Daily Mail.

Wenger said the forward had sustained an abdominal injury and was likely to miss both tomorrow's Premier League opener at home to Leicester City and the trip to Stoke City on August 19.

Meanwhile, Wenger believes Manchester City have had the best summer thus far owing to Pep Guardiola's £200m+ outlay to sign six players.

"He will score you 20 goals a season and that will be gone and will put more pressure on Lacazette".

Wenger admitted he is open to bringing more players in the current window but stressed the difficulty in managing those at his disposal at the moment. "But you know very well that there are surprises". He became more expansive in Brighton's promotion last season and it will be interesting to see if he has learned from his previous spell at this level.

If Leicester City can get their defence to tire a firing Arsenal down, there always are points to be taken.

"You've seen how they linked up in the pre-season match. He is starting to understand what I want from him during games", Conte said. Outside of this year, generally, Arsenal plays in the UEFA Champions league. He has done so for three clubs, including for the Seagulls in the League Cup in 2008 - the last time the two sides met.

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech has carried over his fine form from a year ago in to pre-season as he's produced some fine displays recently so I see no reason to think Wenger won't stick with him as his number one in the Premier League.

After a pre-season laden with ups and downs, speculations and contract talks, Arsenal have a sense of stability around them once again.
