Spike Lee and others plan to rally outside NFL headquarters in NY this month to protest what they call the league's blacklisting of Colin Kaepernick for his political views, but the controversial quarterback also find supports among some of Chicago's activists.

According to a social media post from Lee on Tuesday calling for a "Rally for Colin" the "United We Stand" rally for Kaepernick will start at 5 p.m. ET on August 23 at 345 Park Avenue in New York City.

He says he didn't organize the protest, but he supports the quarterback and "his stance on the injustices in the United States of America".

That's part of the reason why Tim Clark and Amber Le'Shea chose to plan a pro-Kaepernick protest on September 10 before the Bears' first home game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Many think Kaepernick is being blackballed after his kneeling protests during the national anthem on the sidelines of NFL games last season. He said "without question" Kaepernick is being blacklisted.

Training camp is in full swing, the National Football League preseason is underway, and quarterback Colin Kaepernick is still without a team. "And I think there is a perception that football's not on the top of his list".

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color".

Kaepernick's play at quarterback started faltering after 2014, and he was benched for backup Blaine Gabbert during the 2015 season. Seattle, the only team Kaepernick visited, eventually didn't sign him either.

As for the label that Colin Kaepernick picked up as anti-American for sitting during the anthem, D.L. Hughley asks, "What is more American than someone protesting something in a peaceful way?"

Perez said Kaepernick, who she's friends with, is training on his own every day. (Seahawks head coach) Pete (Carroll) and I talked about it for a long time. Edwards hasn't spoken recently with Kaepernick but says he has talked to members of "his inner circle and management team". "How do we [the NFL] get better in terms of how we manage these situations?"
