Overwatch is getting free-for-all and team Deathmatch modes

While Deathmatch is only available in Overwatching's PTR, deathmatch will be coming to all platforms at a later date. It will likely be released to the Public Test Region (PTR) servers first before Blizzard makes it accessible to everyone. It is essentially Rocket League and Overwatch combined, and despite how odd that sounds, it is a very entertaining and fun mode. Both modes are designed for kills-centric objectives.

The new content is now live on the Overwatch PTR, with players on PC now able to demo Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. This means players won't rage at you for being Hanzo or Widowmaker all the time. In Team Deathmatch there will be a different pool of maps (not including the Widowmaker one mentioned above).

DM and TDM, much like any other game that features the mode, requires players or teams to reach a designated number of kills in order to win the game. Some of the Hybrid, Assault and Escort Overwatch maps have been modified for the purposes of Deathmatch, and there'll be a new purpose-made map for free-for-all too. The first player to reach 20 kills in the mode will officially be declared the victor. And out of the eight, only the top four will qualify for progress toward loot boxes. There's also a brand new map exclusive to Deathmatch: Chateau Guillard, a French estate that has fallen into disrepair. Additionally, story elements for the character will be sprinkled throughout the map similar to Winston and the Horizon Lunar Colony map. Deathmatch has a way of drastically de-prioritising both of those things.

Although Overwatch has arguably been one of the most popular shooters since its release in 2016 - it managed to become Blizzard's fastest growing franchise, for instance - the title has yet to officially receive the granddaddy of all FPS modes: Deathmatch.
