Patty Jenkins In Final Negotiations On Historic Deal To Helm 'Wonder Woman 2'

The reason the deal has of yet not been reached is because Jenkins expects, rightfully so, to be paid the same as a male director would after such a success, and Deadline's report claims that this deal was being finalised yesterday night.

With the first film having already pulled in an astounding $800 million worldwide before it even opens in Japan next week, it's fair to say Jenkins was due for a major payday.

Zack Snyder reportedly received a $10 million salary for his second DC film Man of SteeL after receiving somewhere in between $1.5 million and $3 million for Watchmen. Furthermore, her standing her ground and demanding to be paid what a man would get for a superhero sequel helps set a standard for other female directors.

At press time, Deadline was reporting that Patty Jenkins and her agents were close to finalizing a deal to direct Wonder Woman 2 that would make Jenkins the highest paid female director in Hollywood.

Are you hyped for another Wonder Woman film? The movie, directed by Patty Jenkins, not only re-invigorated DC movies and the studio itself, but became a symbol of strength for women across the country. However, it turned out she wasn't officially signed on, contrary to earlier reports, giving her leverage to use in actually nailing down her contract for Wonder Woman 2. And no one doubted for a moment that Warner Bros. wanted Jenkins back; after all they're supposedly ramping up an Oscar-campaign for her.

Last month at Comic-Con, the studio confirmed both a sequel with Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot and a release date of December 13, 2019.
