Flacco will not participate in the preseason; given the possibility of aggravating his back injury, that's probably a smart move. Luckily, there is now a more definitive timeframe for Flacco to return to action.

The team added that the plan is for Flacco to be the starting quarterback against Cincinnati in the regular season opener on September 10.

We are now getting a a better idea on when we will see Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco back on the playing field. On the bright side, Flacco is anticipated to practice at some point prior to the regular season, which would put him on track to play Week 1. He returned one punt for 9 yards in the first quarter, ran for 8 yards on an end-around and caught a TD pass in the third quarter and impressed coaches, fans and the players.

But given the frightening prospect of being without Flacco when the season opened, there won't be any complaints in Baltimore over Friday's news. That should help him get his rhythm down with his new offensive additions Jeremy Maclin and Danny Woodhead.
