Tom Cruise has been filmed limping after apparently injuring himself as he shot a scene for the new Mission: Impossible movie.

The 55-year-old action man was injured during a big building jump stunt on the set of the blockbuster in London on Sunday, appearing to miss his mark while jumping from construction rigging onto a nearby building, and then slamming against the wall. After a while, he got back up and limped again to the edge of the building to get pulled by the harness to the first building.

While the extent of his injury is unknown, his rep and manager did not provide any comment to press. He has reportedly broken his ankles in two places after smashing into the side of the builing.

"The injury is worse than was at first feared".

Tom, who was attached to safety wires, was able to climb up onto the roof of the building but he was limping and the actor called to the production crew for assistance.

The film's release could now be pushed back from summer 2018 to Christmas that year because of the incident. However it seems despite his injuries, the star hasn't been put off performing his own stunts. "The movie's bosses had no choice other than to postpone the filming", the publication said.

Cruise reprises his role as renowned spy Ethan Hunt in "Mission Impossible 6" which will also see the return of Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg).

"It is going to be, I believe, the most impressive and unbelievable thing that Tom Cruise has done in a movie, and he has been working on it since right after "Rogue Nation" came out".

The sixth "Mission: Impossible" movie comes to United Kingdom cinema screens on 27 July 2018.
