David Duke: Charlottesville Rally 'Fulfills The Promises Of Donald Trump'

On Saturday, August 12, a "Unite The Right" white supremacist rally is scheduled to take place in Charlottesville, Virginia, and will include the likes of alt-right leader Richard Spencer.

The decision came after civil rights attorneys representing Kessler's effort to hold the rally in Emancipation Park argued that tweets and public statements by city councilors show that the city's attempt to move the rally to McIntire Park was in response to the rally's content rather than public safety.

A sizeable contingent of members of the extreme right and white nationalists are expected to descend on a small USA university town Saturday - and a fierce opposition front is uniting against it.

Dubbed the "Unite the Right Rally", the gathering could mark one of the most significant demonstrations of its kind in decades, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors extremist groups. "The goal in moving the Unite the Right Rally from Emancipation Park to a larger, more accommodating space like McIntire Park had nothing to do with the content of the demonstrators' speech".

"Finally, as we prepare for tomorrow's events, I want to urge my fellow Virginians who may consider joining either in support or opposition to the planned rally to make alternative plans". As long as that expression is peaceful, that is their right.

A representative for the city of Charlottesville did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for a comment in regard to the lawsuit.

"It is also the right of every American to deny those ideas more attention than they deserve", said McAuliffe.

Large crowds are also expected in downtown Charlottesville on Saturday, the city said, with high numbers of protesters demonstrating against the rally expected to be among those in attendance.

"I am beyond disgusted by this unsanctioned and despicable display of visual intimidation on a college campus", Mayor Mike Singer said in a statement. Earlier this year, the city council voted to rename the park and move the statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

The so-called alt-right is a white nationalist movement that is an offshoot of conservatism that mixes mixing racist and populist elements.
