Trump, Macron agree to work together on North Korea: White House

North Korea has announced a detailed plan to launch a salvo of ballistic missiles into the seas around the US Pacific territory of Guam, a major military hub and home to US bombers. He told the governor that when it came to Guam, "we are with you 1000%".

In the phone call Mr Trump goes on to praise the island's beauty, which he says he has seen in news reports about the missile threat.

Trump responded, "Well, you're right about that, but unfortunately, you know, we're living with a very obstructionist group, but maybe that will change". All over the world they're talking about Guam.

"It looks handsome, you know I'm watching...it's such a big story in the news".

Guam's economy is heavily dependent on tourism and a large USA military base, which occupies 30 percent of the island.

They called me from the White House this morning and both assured me that the people of Guam are safe. President Trump told Governor Calvo the United States is behind Guam "1,000 percent". "The relationship between the two Presidents is an extremely close one, and will hopefully lead to a peaceful resolution of the North Korea problem", the White House said. "We got 95 percent occupancy and after all this stuff calms down, we're going to have 110 percent occupancy".

Trump also spoke cryptically about North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, telling Calvo, "You notice that he hasn't spoken recently".

Trump is clearly leaning on the old adage that all press is good press, but here's the thing: it's not. "You are safe, we are with you 1,000%".

What presidents normally do is work with their team to develop a policy that reflects the United States' allies, military generals and military analysis of how statements will impact the situation, she explained.

The president called the USA military "incredible, "rock solid" and "the best in the world by a factor of five". And again, it looks like just a attractive place".
