West Brom reject Man City's Evans bid

'Jonny understands the situation and where everything is.

But he added: "I think every player is for sale at the right price". Firstly, we don't want to sell him, or need to sell him, we are not desperate to get the money in, so it would have to be a very, very good offer. "One thing we don't want to do is play him and then it gets worse and then we lose him", said Pulis.

Pulis insists Evans is happy to remain at The Hawthorns, although he admits the central defender could miss Saturday's Premier League trip to Burnley with a hamstring problem.

He made just 10 appearances under Mauricio Pochettino last term - four of which came in the club's domestic cup runs - and would fall even further behind his defensive colleagues if Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez completes a reported £40m switch to White Hart Lane.

Tony Pulis, the West Brom head coach, has moved for Wimmer this week and is hopeful of signing the Austrian worldwide in the next few days.

Kevin Wimmer's spell at Tottenham is on the verge of ending after reports suggested that a £15m move to West Bromwich Albion was edging closer to completion. But Pulis says West Brom are under no pressure to cash in on their new club captain. Jonny is one of our best players.

"We'd love him to be at this football club next year, that is what we'll try to do, keep him here".

"Whoever's telling you we are close is miles away from that fact". "He's got a lot of medals".

Evans isn't the only absentee for tomorrow's game with Burnely.

West Brom will be without Evans' fellow defender Gareth McAuley and midfielder James Morrison due to respective thigh and knee injuries at the weekend, but veteran holding player Gareth Barry is available after his arrival from Everton.

"They won't be available again", said Pulis.

"We don't want to stop him from doing something he wants to do".

"He was in the top five in the Premier League in his running stats past year".
