Commenting on terrorism, Ghani said the phenomenon was a unsafe threat to the region and the world and said all the countries must work together to overcome extremism, read the statement.

The Kingdom sees that achieving advancement in the fields of knowledge, applied science and technology is based on four main pillars - first is developing education from the initial stages to higher education such that it is based on encouraging creativity so as to discover talents and develop them; second is to encourage scientific research and technology, develop innovated technology; third, to develop an integrated system which will encourage creative people and their ideas, guarantee converting the results of scientific research into practical applications that have economic returns; and fourth, to extend the bridges of cooperation and integration through worldwide organizations, such as OIC. On the first day of the Forum, the participants discussed the policy matters for the development of science, technologies and innovations in Muslim world.

Speaking at a working session, President Hussain said the summit would allow the member countries to benefit from each other's expertise.

Vowing to make knowledge and its application essential features of the way people in the OIC member states live, the leaders underlined the need to increase investments in science, technology and innovation (STI).

Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain said on Sunday that the Muslim world is lagging behind and failed over the years to pay adequate attention to education.

President Mamnoon observed that the Muslim world was facing new challenges in this modern era, which required research in social science and physics.

He also pointed to the issue of terrorism in the global arena saying "fortunately, countries fighting terrorism in the region have obtained great achievements so that terrorists in Iraq and Syria are now in dire conditions, and with failure of terrorists, foreign interference will be also restricted".

During the meeting, both the leaders also discussed the plight of Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar and resolved to raise the issue at every platform in the world. He also praised Pakistan's key contributions as the Chair of the COMSTECH.

Turkey's president also expressed his country's readiness to help improve relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and said his country supports the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
