Alexis Sanchez is not fat: Arsene Wenger

Arsenal's Sanchez will 'win the fans back quickly' – Wenger

Eddie Howe says he takes responsibility for Bournemouth's poor performance at Arsenal after slipping to a fourth straight Premier League defeat.

A £60 million deal had been agreed between Arsenal andManchester City for the Chilean forward during the last few days of the transfer window, however the deal fell through after the Gunners failed to sign a replacement.

Sanchez came off the bench to play the final 15 minutes in Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at The Emirates on Saturday as they got back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Wenger said: "Yes, I spoke to him".

Sanchez was on the bench against Bournemouth after a late return from worldwide duty, and was booed by sections of the crowd when he came on as a substitute during the 3-0 win.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech echoed that sentiment, and said he has had a conversation with Sanchez to gauge his mood.

"I think he'll be exactly the same even though he's got a year left on his contract".

"In this league, you can see if you are a fraction off the level, you can get easily beaten like we were at Liverpool".

"It was a hard game for them but you can see in this league there are small margins and small details that can make a huge difference and obviously you need to make sure you are ready".

Arsene Wenger has hit out at rumours that Alexis Sanchez's off-field distractions at the start of this season have left him "fat" coming back to the club after the global break.

Sanchez, as the side's talisman, received plenty of criticism, with former Under-20 coach Jose Sulantay labeling him "fatter than normal" and "physically out of shape." .

"He is not fat". His fat percentage is under 10.

"Before every game, I have a selection problem and I'm always going to have to leave top-class players out - especially offensively because we have many top strikers", Wenger told reporters.
