China Moves To Limit Fuel, Textile Trade With North Korea

China says North Korean situation more serious by the day

China accounts for around 90 per cent of North Korea's trade, with the USA government's Energy Information Agency estimating that the North's imports amount to 5.5 million barrels of crude and 2.2 million barrels of refined oil products every year.

Japanese officials say North Korea could send a nuclear-armed missile over Japan if it tests a hydrogen bomb over the Pacific.

A 3.4 magnitude quake has occurred in the northeastern part of North Korea, data published by the China natural disaster Networks Center (CENC) has said.

China's Commerce Ministry made the announcement that it will completely ban condensate and liquefied natural gas shipments to North Korea starting Friday midnight.

President Donald Trump, meanwhile, in his United Nations speech Tuesday, said the US would "totally destroy North Korea" if provoked.

Earlier on Monday, Pyongyang warned that it will inflict "the greatest pain and suffering" on the US if the toughest sanctions ever on the Kim Jong-un regime are approved by the UN.

North Korea is determined to keep the worldwide community on its toes and its nuclear capabilities on the global agenda.

The United Nations Security Council, including permanent member Beijing, approved tough sanctions against Pyongyang last week in response to its sixth and most powerful nuclear test.

Trump announced the measures as he met the leaders of South Korea and Japan, the nations most immediately imperiled by North Korea's threats of a military strike.

South Korea calls North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's direct rebuke of President Donald Trump a "reckless provocation" that would deepen his country's worldwide isolation and lead to its demise.

Earlier on Friday, North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho stated that Pyongyang might consider the possibility of a new hydrogen bomb test in response to the U.S. aggressive policy.

North Korea said its recent nuclear test was a detonation of a thermonuclear weapon built for its developmental intercontinental ballistic missiles. On Friday, Mr Kim responded personally by calling Mr Trump "mentally deranged U.S. dotard", "a gangster fond of playing with fire", who had "insulted me and my country in front of the eyes of the world".

Ri Yong-ho, North Korea's foreign minister is slated to address the UN General Assembly on Saturday.

South Korea's weather agency, however, offered a different view.

Analysts from the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization are examining the "unusual seismic activity of a much smaller magnitude" in North Korea, executive secretary Lassina Zerbo tweeted. The researcher said the U.S., China, South Korea and Japan would need to "bolster multilateral contingency planning to be ready to deal with a worst case scenario" if the United Nations sanctions are approved.
