Two weeks ago, Brit hunk Ed Skrein gracefully (and very publicly) dropped out of Hellboy after being informed the role he had taken was half Japanese in comics.

David Harbour (Stranger Things) is starring in Hellboy, which reboots the franchise centered on the demonic hero from the Mignola comic books. The new Hellboy gives him both a chance to find new employment and play an Asian-American character.

Kim will play Major Ben Daimio, a rugged military member of the bureau for paranormal research and defense who, due to a supernatural encounter, can turn into a jaguar when angered or in pain. "[Therefore] I have made a decision to step down so the role can be cast appropriately". It has been revealed that Daniel Dae Kim is in talks to be cast as negotiations are underway. They said in a statement following Skrein's departure that they weren't intentionally being "insensitive to issues of authenticity and ethnicity" when they cast Skrein.

Kim is a Korean-American actor.

The actor has been a part of the ongoing CBS show Hawaii Five-0.

It's only fitting that the 49-year old actor, who rose to fame as Jin-Soo Kwon in "Lost" and Chin Ho Kelly in "Hawaii Five-O", would land the role, as just this June, he stepped away from the CBS procedural after seeking equal pay to the series' stars, Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan. His quitting, along with co-star Grace Park, left the show temporarily without Asian regulars.

Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, and Sasha Lane are also set to star in the Neil Marshall-directed feature, which is set to release in 2018.
