A year after that, on June 7, 2016, de Blasio's address on file was changed back again to Gracie Mansion.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown defeated City Comptroller Mark Schroeder and county lawmaker Betty Jean Grant on Tuesday.

October 13 is the deadline to register to vote in the general election on November 7.

Trump has fueled racial divisions across America that have helped shape de Blasio's push to become the city's first Democrat re-elected mayor since Ed Koch in 1985. He had more than half the votes with nearly 90 percent of precincts reporting, according to unofficial results.

With more than 90 percent of precincts reporting, de Blasio had more than 74 percent of the vote, according to unofficial returns.

Four others are also mounting longshot bids to unseat de Blasio include police reform activist Robert Gangi, Brooklyn attorney Richard Bashner and tech entrepreneur Mike Tolkin.

Gonzalez took over as acting district attorney when Kenneth Thompson announced toward the end of a year ago he was ill and would be undergoing treatment for cancer.

Mayor de Blasio cruised to an easy victory in the Democratic primary on Tuesday - trouncing little-known former City Council member Sal Albanese and other long-shot hopefuls in a race that was never competitive.

He now faces Republican state Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, of Staten Island, and independent candidate Bo Dietl, a private detective, in November's general election.

The Democratic contest failed to generate the same level of public interest as the 2013 primary that featured numerous high profile contenders, including former Rep. Anthony Weiner, who was caught up in a sexting scandal. Thompson died shortly after, and no replacement was officially named, leaving Gonzalez in place. In 2005, 18% of registered active Democrats turned out in a primary won by Fernando Ferrer, who earned 40% of the vote.

Albanese spent the day greeting voters in all five boroughs, unlike de Blasio, who only had one Brooklyn campaign stop on his schedule.

NY held primaries statewide Tuesday for other local offices.

The winners of Tuesday's race will all move to the November general election.
