After counting of votes in Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election started on Wednesday morning, RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad was leading on all posts.

The students of colleges affiliated to Delhi University had yesterday voted to elect new president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary of the DUSU.

The party, which managed to win only the joint secretary post in the DUSU panel past year, was leading the race for president, vice-president and joint secretary after counting in eight of 16 rounds was over.

A year ago the ABVP has won 3 seats and NSUI 1.

The main contestants for the DUSU presidential post were ABVP's Rajat Choudhary, NSUI's Rocky Tusheed, AISA's Parul Chauha, independent candidate Raja Choudury and independent Alka.

Representatives of major students political outfits were among those present outside the counting centre.

"The DUSU elections 2017 held on September 12 has recorded a polling percentage which seems to be highest In last few years", SB Babbar, DUSU Chief Election Officer has reported that final tally of the elections was 43 per cent. The court had said that Tuseed can participate and campaign for the election, but told the varsity to not declare the result.

Bigwigs like NSUI and ABVP flooded the streets with pamphlets near Satyawati College. Jashan Kamboj of the NSUI won the post of president of the PUCSC.

For the posts of vice-president and general secretary, there are five candidates each in the fray and four for the post of joint-secretary.
