Deshaun Watson expected to start Week 2 for Texans

Texans offensive line humbled in first half against Jaguars

When it came to the second half, rookie Deshaun Watson had a mixed two quarters of play. "The game's not meant to be 2nd and 15". Tom Savage was the starter at quarterback and went 7 completions in 13 attempts for 62 yards and a 66.8% passer rating. Watson led the Texans to their only scoring drive in the third quarter, throwing his first National Football League regular-season touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins.

Watson gave the team and the stadium a much-need spark when he took the field in the second half and was helped by three Jacksonville penalties en route to his first touchdown pass to Hopkins.

He didn't waste any time getting going, throwing a 4-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins on his first drive to cut the lead to 19-7 early in the third quarter. However, much as he did the tail end of last season after being named the starter, Savage looked indecisive, slow, and was poor at protecting the ball once the game started.

"I think that's what (Watson) needed, to go out there and get his feet wet", Hopkins said.

The difference between Savage and Watson is that the latter can run as well improvise his way out situations and is not afraid to do it.

Calais Campbell had perhaps one of his greatest games of his career, being able to sack Savage 3.5 times today and I'm sure he's going to have nightmares about No. 93 running at him with intensity, trying to take him down. The problem is the fact that their offensive line is a train wreck.

Watson ended up completing 12 of 23 passes for 102 yards. The Texans were also without receivers Will Fuller, who has a broken collarbone, and Jaelen Strong, who served a one-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. "I just didn't do a good enough job".

Texans: Face a quick turnaround with a trip to Cincinnati on Thursday. O'Brien, supposedly an offensive guy who knows QBs, now doesn't know what to do with the franchise's first first-round pick at the position since its inception, David Carr in 2002. "We'll see moving forward".
