Didier Drogba "really happy" for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata

A small group of the away supporters sang a song for summer signing Alvaro Morata, with anti-Semitic undertones.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has spoken of his delight for the Blues' current star striker Alvaro Morata, claiming that the former Real Madrid striker will be glad to be amongst the goals so early into life in the Premier League.

And they appealed to those who sang it to desist from the act immediately claiming it embarrassed both the club and Morata.

The chant in question ("He came from Real Madrid he f*cking hates the y***.") appears to be directed at rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who have a traditional Jewish fanbase.

Chelsea's management wasted no time in condemning the sick song and pleaded with their support to ditch it.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was asked about the song and its content at a post-match press conference but head of communications and public affairs Steve Atkins quickly stepped in.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says he is pleased to see Alvaro Morata improving, following his impressive start to the season. But the language in that song is not acceptable at all.

Chelsea's next game is a Champions' League home tie against Qarabag FK on Tuesday September 12 and any repeat of yesterday's lyrics would sure to land the club in hot water and lead to sanctions from Uefa chiefs.

"It is important to win here".

The Spain global, signed from Real Madrid for a reported club-record fee of £60million in July, has registered three goals and two assists in his first four appearances in the Premier League.

The Spaniard has scored three goals in four Premier League games so far this season, as well as five goals in four games for club and country.

'It was a hard game so you have to be happy with the result'.
