Dileep's bail hearing in the afternoon; Kavya approaches HC

Actor Kavya Madhavan, Dileep's wife, files for anticipatory bail in connection with assault case

Kavya Madhavan, popular Malayalam actor and wife of Dileep, moved the Kerala High Court on Saturday seeking anticipatory bail.

Kavya's petition states, "Despite completely destroying the life and promising career of Dileep and that of his teenage daughter in the process, a group of unscrupulous senior police officers, a small-but-powerful section of the film industry and scores of obliging media personnel are trying to destroy Dileep's entire family by implicating Kavya in the case and arresting her".

Kavya's move comes amid speculation that she too might be arrested in the case. After hearing, the court set aside the case for final judgment on Monday (September 18).

While rejecting his bail requests, the court had said that as the investigation was underway and if granted bail, the actor could tamper with evidence or influence witnesses. He had reportedly informed the police that he has visited Kavya Madhavan's villa and Laksyah, the online store run by her in Kakkanad. In her petition, she added that her husband was falsely implicated in the case and that he had never met Pulsar Suni.

But on the fabricated false allegation that Dileep committed criminal conspiracy with Suni, he was "arrayed" as an accused in the crime, she alleged. Dileep has been in custody since July this year and was allowed to walk out of jail only for a day in September. According to police, apart from giving instruction to Suni to take nude photograph of the actress, he had told him how to assault her.

The police had arrested Pulsar Suni, who had worked as a driver of many film personalities, six days after the incident.

Meanwhile her husband Dileep's bail plea was considered In Camera by the Angamaly magistrate court on Saturday. The actress was waylaid and assaulted in a moving auto on the night of February 17 in Kochi.
