Dolphins plea to move London game to Miami rejected

Dolphins stadium to be inspected for damage

Starting left guard Ted Larsen tore his biceps during training camp and can come off injured reserve before the Dolphins Week 9 game against the Oakland Raiders.

The Dolphins likely won't play their first home game of the season at Hard Rock Stadium until October 8, as the opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was moved to the team's Week 11 bye.

A team of engineers have inspected Hard Rock Stadium and have determined that venue that hosts Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes football games is structurally sound in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

Garfinkel confirmed landscaping damage and said the stadium lost a section of roof panels, but downplayed those issues as "aesthetic in nature and easy to fix".

Miami will open its season at the Los Angeles Chargers on September 17.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins say they won't need to use contingency plans to practice in West Virginia next week because their Davie facility is fine.

"I asked", Ross told the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson via email Monday. "It will be played in London".

The Dolphins are now in Southern California, where they are practicing at Oxnard. Created to protect fans from the sun, the canopy was part of a $500 million renovation of the stadium.

The Dolphins evacuated from South Florida before the storm's arrival and will practice in Oxnard, California, this week to prepare for their delayed start of the season. Irma wasn't almost that destructive as it swept across South Florida on Sunday but the stadium still must be inspected. The Chargers are playing their first home game in the tiny StubHub Center.
