Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore four tug boats moving the partially submerged dredger safely to an area near Pulau Senang Singapore for follow up underwater search operations Wednesday Sept. 13 2017. An oil tanker

Five crew members remain unaccounted for following a collision between the Indonesian-registered tanker Kartika Segara and a Dominican-registered dredger named JBB De Rong 19 in Singapore territorial waters on Wednesday at around 12.40am local time.

MPA said, "The dredger was transiting the westbound lane while the tanker was departing Singapore joining the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme in the Singapore Strait when the incident occurred".

Seven crew members were rescued, five more sailors are missing.

Divers Wednesday recovered the bodies of two seamen who went missing after their dredger collided with a tanker off Singapore and rescuers were hunting for three still missing.

The 26 crew members on the Indonesian oil tanker Kartika Segara were not hurt.

Out of the seven admitted in the hospital, five have since been discharged, a hospital spokesperson confirmed, adding that one remained admitted while the other was under observation.

One crew member was admitted and is in stable condition, while the other is now under observation. Video taken by a Channel News Asia correspondent shows that she has damage to her starboard bow. The tanker was reportedly damaged on her starboard bow, but was stable and is now anchored at the Eastern Anchorage.

200 military and civilian SAR personnel are involved in an ongoing search and rescue effort led by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), using four helicopters, one fixed-wing aircraft and two dozen surface vessels.

Shipping operations in the area were not affected by the incident.

It said the Singapore Vessel Traffic Information System had provided navigational information to both vessels prior to the collision. The cause of the incident remains under investigation. In August, the USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker collided off Singapore, killing 10 U.S. Navy sailors.
