A new report just ranked Connecticut as the 18th happiest state in the nation

A new study ranking the best states to live and be happy in, puts CT in the top 20.

A new WalletHub study says forget power and wealth - your environment is also key to your overall happiness.

The state of Kentucky ranks number 44 on a new Happiness survey conducted by the personal finance website WalletHub.

Minnesota took the top spot for ranking in the top five in all three categories including emotional & physical well-being, work environment, and community & environment. The category focused on employment rate, salary and credit scores.

In total, this year Wallethub looked at a total 28 metrics to measure happiness, including adequate sleep rate, sports participation, life expectancy, commute time, income level, income growth rate, volunteer rate, ideal weather, and life expectancy.

IL was named at no. 20 on the list, noted for having among the lowest share of adult depression but one of the highest long-term unemployment rates.

On the other end, the unhappiest states were Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma and West Virginia.
