Former Tottenham player and manager Ossie Ardiles has revealed that he was delighted with the performance of Davinson Sanchez, who was making his debut for Spurs during their 3-0 victory over Everton this weekend.

A young generation of Tottenham supporters may not remember the legendary Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta but when Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino compares Harry Kane to his former worldwide team mate, there could hardly be a higher compliment. We played well, and fully deserved the result.

"We play good football and we have been in the title race for the last couple of years". I hope next time it will be in, but the most important thing was to have a good game.

"People might not talk about us but that suits us".

Now for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday - and on this form, Spurs will not fear the German club.

That campaign was a major disappointment, and Spurs' Wembley woes have continued this season at their home while the club's new stadium is constructed.

"I would put Harry Kane in with Batistuta".

The 28-year-old moved to White Hart Lane from Newcastle last summer after the Magpies dropped into the Championship and much was expected after the north Londoners paid £30m for his services.

"We have got to test ourselves against these teams", he said. I think the fact we're playing teams like Real Madrid and Dortmund will help us, because it will be a big motivation to try to beat those teams. "We need to get this game behind us and the best way to do it is to play another one", said the England centre-back. That has got to be the aim - get through the group.

"It's going to be an wonderful atmosphere". I hope I will do well this season and we will all do well in the league, in the Champions League and in the cups.

"That does not mean we can not challenge and join them in the latter stages and get past them in a two-legged tie".
