West Bengal's child rights body on Thursday moved the Supreme Court against the Centre's move to deport all Rohingya Muslims to Myanmar, saying the entire community can not be branded as terrorists.

The NHRC had recently issued a notice to the government over its decision to deport Rohingya Muslims residing in different parts of India.

He also called on the worldwide community to provide financial help to countries such as Bangladesh and Malaysia that were hosting the influx of refugees escaping the violence.

The affidavit came in reply to the government stand that they were illegal immigrants who must go back to their own country. Not satisfied with simply forcing Rohingya from their homes, authorities seem intent on ensuring they have no homes to return to.

"The Home Ministry has clarified its position through its affidavit (in the Supreme Court) that these are illegal immigrants and they will be deported".

Chairman Justice H.L. Dattu, present at the function where Rajnath Singh spoke, said the Commission would back Rohingyas because they were being persecuted in Myanmar.

"Visas and free access must be granted to the United Nation's Fact Finding to probe the atrocities committed against the Rohingya, Kachin and other groups in Myanmar", the tribunal said in a statement. The human rights body said that while there have been no reported instances of deportations of UNHCR-registered Rohingyas from India, some refugees have reported instances of harassment.

More than 420,000 members of the Muslim minority have fled Myanmar for the safety of neighbouring Bangladesh. "India is not even a signatory to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention". The Supreme Court has said that it will hear the matter on 3 October at 2 pm. He was speaking at a seminar organised by the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi. Every country should have strict laws and clear policies on how to deal with illegal immigrants.

The debate on the Rohingyas is taking an extreme turn in and outside India.

His homeland forced him into exile and his host country is threatening to deport him but Syedullah Bashar is hopeful that one day justice will be his - and his community of Rohingya Muslims.

Under this operation, India is providing relief material consisting of items including rice, sugar, salt, pulses, cooking oil, biscuits and mosquito nets to the affected people.

"If Burma is willing to take them back, why criticise the central government?"

United Nations human rights chief Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein has described the systematic attacks against the Rohingya minority by the security forces as a "textbook example of ethnic cleansing".
