Hurricane Irma has left a wide swath of devastation throughout the state of Florida. IN and FIU do not share a common bye week.

In a university release, IN said athletic director Fred Glass agreed with FIU's decision to cancel the game "after a series of discussions with FIU officials" that began Sunday.

FIU has cancelled classes for the time being and with several of its student-athletes being natives of South Florida, as well as taking into consideration the considerable logistical hurdles in traveling to Bloomington, the decision to cancel the game was made.

FIU and Indiana Hoosiers have canceled their game that was set to take place on Saturday because of complications related to the effects of Hurricane Irma.

IN was supposed to host Florida International on Saturday in Bloomington, but the aftermath of Hurricane Irma made the logistics too tough, and both schools agreed to cancel the game. Following the cancelation of this FIU game, IN has 11 games on its schedule and just two non-conference games.

As a result of the cancellation, the Hoosiers will look to find an opponent for October 7, their originally scheduled bye week.

IU athletic director Fred Glass announced the cancellation in a press release.

Other cancellations across the state of Florida have been Florida State-Miami and Georgia Tech-Central Florida.
