Internet falls in love with Florida police officers in viral posts

Police Officers Selfie Inspires Hurricane Relief Calendar

Police Officers Selfie Inspires Hurricane Relief Calendar

"Hello officer handsome! Sorry, i know you're out there helping but who doesn't like a cute first responder", Shari Dixon commented.

A selfie of Officers Nordman, Hamill and Rengering quickly went viral as men and women went insane over the cops' dashing good looks.

"Never in my life have I ever wanted to drive 1200 miles just to run a stop sign", wrote one woman.

"Next post: 'Gainesville Jail can nolonger gold any more prisoners".

There were so many inquiries on the men's relationship statuses that the department updated its post.

Several people also suggested the officers shoot a calendar, which they seem to have agreed to.

The police department took the comments in good humor, responding with GIFs to many of them. Proceeds will go toward disaster relief, the department said.

And those are some of the tamer comments we can share here. You've actually made our chief blush with some of them'.

"2. MRS. Nordman and MRS. Hamill have also enjoyed knowing how millions of women are going insane over their husbands", the post continued, adding, "3".

The update also specified that while "MRS. Nordman and MRS. Hamill have also enjoyed knowing how millions of women are going insane over their husbands", Officer Rengering (the one "with the fantastic hair") is available. In fact, "Officer Rengering is being placed into Cougar Prey Protective Care, similar to the witness protection program for his safety", the post joked. There WILL be a calendar.

The popular post has been shared nearly 200,000 times and people have even called for the officers to strip for a charity calendar. The photo made it to the Gainesville Police Department's Facebook page, and from there, the world. As for a calendar-something fans requested-the department promises "we are going to try and do something fairly quickly and funds raised will go to Hurricane Irma recovery here in Florida".

"Thank you for all the hilarious comments", the update continued.

The Sarasota police assured that Gainesville has "nothing on us".
