Jalen Hurts hits Calvin Ridley for 78-yard TD

Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley continues to climb the school's career record lists. He moved into a fourth-place tie with Ozzie Newsome (1974-77) on the Alabama career TD receptions list. It was his only catch on the night, but it was a memorable one.

Eight different players caught passes and two more were targeted.

Including his touchdown Saturday, Foster would finish with just that one catch in the game. Marcell Ateman (109) and Dillon Stoner (100) also reached the 100-yard receiving mark, the first time in 12 years a team has had four 100-yard receivers in the same game.

Starting quarterback Jalen Hurts had another successful day distributing the ball and avoiding the pass rush with his legs. Derrick Henry (2013-15) is sixth with 45.

Nick Saban has repeatedly said he wanted to see more explosive plays on offense, especially from Alabama's evolving passing attack.

Hurts finished 12 for 17 passing for 248 yards and two touchdowns.

After Alabama missed a 52-yard field goal to open the second quarter, Colorado State drove down the field in 12 plays, setting up a 27-yard field goal that trimmed the Tide lead to 17-3 with 10:34 left in the half.

"Seems like he's in a real hurry to get out of here", Saban said with a grin. "We certainly tried to play some other players, but we didn't do a very good job functionally and really kind of let them back in the game".

Mason Rudolph threw for five touchdowns, all in the first half, and Oklahoma State drilled Pittsburgh. The touchdown gave Washington a 27-0 lead on the Bulldogs.

Colorado State scored 10 straight points after falling behind 17-0 early.

After a three-and-out and a long punt by Colorado State, the Tide needed just four plays to cover 95 yards.

In its 10 offensive plays, Alabama had 170 yards.

Alabama had to settle for a 46-yard Andy Pappanastos field goal on its third possession, and punter JK Scott missed from 52 yards out on the Crimson Tide's fourth drive. Terrell Lewis and Christian Miller were lost for the season in the opener against Florida State, when starters Rashaan Evans and Anfernee Jennings also went down. The prognosis was a season-ending ACL injury, but Saban said that won't be confirmed until Sunday. He got that against Colorado State. Wallace had three tackles and broke up two passes in the first half.

Feleipe Franks heaved a 63-yard touchdown pass to Tyrie Cleveland as the clock expired in a wild, wacky and sometimes unwatchable rivalry game.

Colorado State had cut the lead to 17-10 with the game marching towards halftime. Hurts delivered his best all-around game of the season.

Alabama as No. 1: Alabama improved to 66-11 all-time when it is ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll. The Crimson Tide stormed past Colorado State 41-23 Saturday, gaining 487 yards in a balanced offensive performance. Rudolph completed 23 of 32 passes for 497 yards and the five scores before being pulled in the middle of the third quarter with the Cowboys (3-0) in full command.

Hurts could have continued to compile numbers, but left the game late in the third quarter.

Alabama has proven that it's the class of the Mountain West Conference.

The last time the Crimson Tide played two non-conference teams opponents from the same league back-to-back was in 2014, when it played Conference USA's Florida Atlantic on September 6 and Southern Miss on September 13. The Tide is 59-19-4 all-time against the Commodores, including a 21-game winning streak that dates to 1985.

Next weekend's game kicks off at 2:30 p.m.
