Kid Rock Rips Into Critics Accusing Him Of Racism

On Monday, Rock (aka Robert Richie) fired back in a lengthy Facebook screed, called himself the "king of Detroit love" and called out some of his past supporters for not coming to his defense.

His post on Facebook was lengthy, profane and truculent, but he still isn't saying whether he's running for U.S. Senate from MI or not.

Kid Rock has been accused of racism in the past, thank to his support of President Trump.

Kid Rock's gigs are still scheduled to go ahead and run from Tuesday until September 20. We have been beyond working hard and have something we think all in attendance will enjoy (as long as you don't mind a few f-bombs here and there! lol).

Kid Rock, who is from the Detroit suburbs and proudly claims the city as his home, has six concerts scheduled at the $860 million, 20,000-seat arena, starting Tuesday - a move that Peter Hammer, director of the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights at Detroit's Wayne State University, called "incredibly tone deaf".

Stephen Henderson of Detroit Free Press called the decision to have Rock perform at the new stadium a "middle finger" to Detroiters, pointing out that the city is 80% black and that Rock's behavior could be considered an affront to the African American culture. He publicly announced he was stopping the practice in 2011, after receiving an award from the NAACP. However, this summer the video for "Po Dunk" came out, featuring a pregnant woman wearing a t-shirt with the Confederate flag.

His campaign website sells campaign shirts, hats, yard signs and stickers that say, "Kid Rock for US Senate". He announced he'd stop using the Confederate flag in concert the same year, but recently criticized Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49er who knelt during the national anthem in protest of police violence. "Pretty amusing how scared I have them all and their only agenda is to try and label people / me racist who do not agree or cower to them!" he wrote.

Little Caesars Arena has defended hiring Kid Rock for its shows. Now, again, Kid Rock has not decided whether or not he will run, but if he does, he's already halfway there. The auditorium had a ribbon cutting last week. "I will always demand that our companies strive to do right by Detroit, our community and its people", Illitch said.

After addressing "ghetto glorifiers and gangster wannabes" and stating his intention to "lock up all you fuckin' assholes and throw away the key", Kid Rock then addressed the idea that he may be racist.

Last week, Mayor Mike Duggan weighed in, saying, "He's an entertainer".

Sharpton said Kid Rock "added fuel to the fire" and that NAN still plans to protest.
