Gaga: Five Foot Two, already out in the U.S., sees the performer bare her soul like never before, openly discussing personal issues around her romantic life, health, family and fashion.

Lady Gaga's new documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two dropped today on Netflix and she marked the release by penning a deeply emotional letter to her fans, revealing how emotionally turbulent the road to fame can be.

In the letter the superstar wrote about she was keen to show the dark side of fame writing "I'm most touched that the veil behind the aura of my fame reveals that fame is not all it's cracked up to be".

"For me, it feels very unnatural but complicated because I know it is my destiny to be a performer", Gaga continued.

Gaga also found the film a great reflection of the complicated feelings she has towards fame.

The release of the documentary comes just days after the star announced she was postponing the European part of her tour, owing to the chronic pain condition, fibromyalgia.

When the film switches gears to the halftime show, the momentum feels more focused, partially because the flash and dazzle of the Super Bowl spectacle is more in line with what the average consumer knows Gaga for. She wants to make music and make people happy while also having a family, but she feels like she has never been able to make it all work.

Walmart customers were pretty surprised to see her scanning her own items - stars, they're just like us!

In a message posted on her social media, the pop singer (affectionately referred to as Mother Monster by her fans) talked about how watching her documentary helped her put things in perspective. During last month's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where Five Foot Two premiered, Gaga told the press that this is Moukarbel's film and "he was so respectful of my space even when it was very private moments".

When a fan asked if she watched yet, Lorde was quick to reply: "i watched it early a few hours ago lmao so good i die for that piano bad romance at tony's birthday. and everything else. she is my queen ❤️", she tweeted. I might not always give the world exactly what they expect of me. "Like everybody watching it and seeing how flawless I am, and seeing how ideal my career is, and how flawless every little thing that I do and touch is - because that is just simply no true".
