Librarian explains why she rejected books donated by Melania Trump

"Her comments that this is "racist propaganda and that Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliche and a exhausted and worn ambassador for children's literature" is "political correctness" at its worst.By the way, kudos to First Lady Melania Trump for her generous offer to donate Dr. Seuss books to that Cambridge school library - they don't want them - we'll take them and would be honored to have the First Lady and President Trump. visit".

A school librarian refused to accept a donation of books from the First Lady after she tried to deliver the tomes for National Read A Book Day.

Soeiro went on to say that Trump should have paid attention to and recognised a school that was much less privileged.

Liz Phipps Soeiro claims that her school doesn't need the books and also scoffed at Ms. Trump's choice of titles. In her letter, Soeria suggested Melania send books to "underfunded and underprivileged communities" struggling under Trump administration policies instead of her relatively wealthy community.

Today, the subversives in society are the conservatives, who are trying to undermine political correctness and restore reason and traditional American values which, yes, include a little rebelliousness. Recently, she was refused a gift of a book she wanted to do to the library of an elementary school in MA. "Her comments that this is "racist propaganda and that Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliche and a exhausted and worn ambassador for children's literature" is "political correctness' at its worst".

Cambridgeport Elementary School librarian Liz Phipps Soiero spoke of why, despite the fact her school was chosen to receive the donation of The Cat in The Hat books, she would not accept.

The first lady had donated books to one school in every state as part of 2017 National Read a Book Day on September 6, and she promoted the event on Twitter. Phipps Soerio also suggested that if Trump had gone "down the street" to the Library of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress would have given her "stellar recommendations". "Cambridge does not need extra books", one resident told NBC Boston.

"Are those kids any less deserving of books simply because of circumstances beyond their control?" she wrote.

She then characterized Dr. Seuss's illustrations as racist and said that they were steeped in "racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes", listing several examples in her letter. Books can be a powerful way to learn about and experience the world around us; they help build empathy and understanding.

I am honored that you recognized my students and our school.

In an interview with the "Washington Post", White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham responded to Soerio's letter: "Turning the gesture of sending young school children books into something divisive is unfortunate, but the First Lady remains committed to her efforts on behalf of children everywhere".

Since the election of her husband, Melania Trump is not immune to criticism. Regularly criticized, even scorned by her husband seems to barely make out a case of his presence, the First Lady is not immune.
