N'Golo Kante does not believe that Chelsea will miss Nemanja Matic

Chelsea's N'Golo Kante: 'Special' to make Champions League debut

Kante admits Matic helped him develop as a player but says Bakayoko is more than capable of flourishing in the English capital.

Kante scored from 35 yards out against his former side Leicester on Saturday and delivered an all-action display as Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners at the King Power Stadium.

It made Kante the only player to win back-to-back Premiership titles for different clubs (unless you count Mark Schwartzer sitting on the bench for two seasons) and he established himself as the best midfielder in the Premiership.

Kante played his first Champions League game on Tuesday as Chelsea, after a year away from the competition, opened their campaign with a 6-0 hammering of Azerbaijan outsiders Qarabag.

"I have spent one year with Antonio Conte, and we understand now how we have to play, we have to work". He left now, he plays for United but Bakayoko has come and I think he's a good player, and that we can do very well with him.

"In France, he was a very good goalscorer who scored for many, many years and he will be a threat for Sunday's game". While Kante has established himself as the league's best midfielder, Hazard has been its best attacking force over the last few seasons. I think they did very well.

We all knew that Kante has boundless energy, can carry the ball like a dynamo, presses like a Tasmanian devil and is a superb tackler. "Last season was wonderful for me and the club but that was the past and we need to focus on the future". But now he has really sharpened his game at the other end of the pitch and can be a devastating offensive weapon as well as a defensive one.

"This is what we need to do, and I don't feel like the player of the year".

But the France global insisted that he still doesn't believe he is the best player in the Premier League, adding: "I think football, when one game passes, we need to forget to keep improving".

'We need to win, because it's important for us.

"I think last season, it was special", Kante added. Now it's the beginning [of the season], we can not expect to do the same.
