Tropical Storm Warnings (crimson warning box) remain in effect as Irma moves northwest. NBC10's First Alert Meteorologist Krystal Klei has your accurate forecast plus the latest Hurricane Irma updates.

Wednesday: 40 percent chance of scattered showers, mainly before 3 p.m.; high of 76.

But a more extreme scenario of heavy rain, gusty winds and a chance of isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out if Irma's track shifts east, or if it transfers its energy to an area of low pressure that could develop along a frontal boundary near the D.C. area Wednesday into Thursday.

Showers will end Friday with highs in the upper 70s.

Hurricane Irma pounded the Florida peninsula Sunday and the remnants of the storm were expected to move through the Southeast on its way to southern IN by 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

While the Washington area is basking in handsome weather this weekend, there is the potential that we will receive some impact from Irma by midweek, ranging from a period of heavy rain with gusty winds and a chance of isolated tornadoes, to a chance of showers and possibly breezy conditions.

The work week wraps up on the dry side as partly cloudy skies prevail. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Rain chance around 80%. Wind gusts of 30 miles per hour possible. Sunday Night: Tropical storm conditions expected, with hurricane conditions possible. Breezy. Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Again, some areas may not see any rain. Model data shows the potential of 0.10 to 0.25 inches of rain with some areas even seeing less than 0.10 inches.
