'Rocket Man' Kim Jong Un should have been handled years ago

Trump's broadside follows a rare statement issued by Kim, branding the US president as "deranged" and warning he will "pay dearly" for his threat to "totally destroy" the North if it attacks.

North Korea's nuclear tests to date have all been underground, and experts say an atmospheric test, which would be the first since one by China in 1980, would be proof of the success of its weapons programme.

Declaring that the missile and nuclear tests were a source of "prestige" for his country, Ri said sanctions would not succeed in forcing his government to change course.

All of North Korea's previous six nuclear tests registered as earthquakes of magnitude 4.3 or above. Many analysts believe it is only a matter of time before Pyongyang achieves its goal of having a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the continental U.S.

Foreign Minister also stated that they could test the hydrogen bomb in the Pacific Ocean in response to President Trump's threat of "destroying North Korea completely". "Regarding which measures to take, I don't really know, since it is what Kim Jong-un does", said Ri.

"I'm very proud to tell you that, as you may have just heard moments ago, China, their central bank has told their other banks - that's a massive banking system - to immediately stop doing business with North Korea". Hours after Kim released his statement, North Korea's foreign minister said the country may be planning to test a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific, the AP reported.

The speech came shortly after the Pentagon announced that US bombers flew a mission over worldwide waters near the east coast of North Korea that went farther north of the Demilitarized Zone than any USA aircraft have this century.

Kim, a 33-year-old leader who assumed power after his father died of a heart attack in 2011, was clearly infuriated by Trump's speech to world leaders on Tuesday.

In that speech, the US President mocked the North Korea leader as a Rocket Man on a suicide mission.

The North Korean strongman rounded off his speech by warning to tame "the mentally deranged USA dotard with fire".

The North Korean dictator said Trump would "pay a heavy price" for his statements.

"As a a man representing The DPRK and on behalf of the dignity and honour of my state and people and on my own, I will make the man holding the pejorative of the supreme command in the U.S. pay dearly for his speech calling for total destruction of the DPRK". He added that he is "thinking hard" about his response and that Trump "will face results beyond his expectation".

A new round of battle of words between Trump and the North Korean officials has escalated the tension between the two countries to another level on Thursday.
