Russia and China urge 'peaceful' solution with North Korea

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has ruled out the idea of reopening negotiations on Iran's nuclear deal amid USA calls for abandoning or reconsidering the agreement.

But Lavrov, addressing reporters at the UN General Assembly, said such matters are beyond the scope of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed between Iran and six world powers, including Moscow and Washington.

In July, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said that relations between Russia and the United States today is worse than during the cold war.

With authorization of related United Nations resolutions, China has deployed its navy fleet to carry out escort missions in the waters off Somalia, which has contributed to maintaining security there, he added.

I think that everybody understood it is necessary to go back to the path of political negotiation, the same as it happens in any other country in which there are internal contradictions, in Venezuela or any other country, Lavrov told the media at UN.

"Bringing together apples and oranges would be wrong, especially in such complicated issues as the Iran nuclear deal", Lavrov pointed out.

At a news conference Friday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov once again hit back on claims his country meddled in the 2016 USA election, saying his American counterpart failed to offer any proof of interference.

On October 15, Trump is due to tell the US Congress whether he is ready to re-certify Iran's compliance with the 2015 deal.

During his election campaign, Trump had threatened to "tear up" the deal.

It is noted that at the meeting the latest report by Yukiya Amano, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, was considered.

"Together with our colleagues, we will continue to strive for the reasonable, and not the emotional approach - instead of the kindergarten fight between children", he said, also suggesting that there are many potential mediators "who would like to try not to pursue the way of military, of sanctions, but rather peaceful".
