British Airways plane held tarmac Paris terror London attack police threat

Travellers had waited on the plane for about an hour, at first being told there were "technical issues".

The flight had been scheduled to land in Heathrow at 7:45am local time, but is now expected at 11:05am.

A spokesman for Charles de Gaulle airport said the search was instigated by customs officials and was routine. They're being extremely thorough and we're being escorted by armed officers'.

An airport spokesman confirmed the evacuation, saying it was for a "security reason".

All passengers had multiple X-ray scanning checks while authorities secured the plane, he said.

As reported by the Metro, the British Airways plane was immediately surrounded by Paris police and fire vehicles due to the #security threat and according to a witness, James Anderson, all passengers were then searched by armed police.

"They needed to make sure everybody and everything has been searched".

He said: "Everybody's been individually searched by armed officers and given all clear".

Sniffer dogs have also begun searching luggage.

He added: "Apparently an individual has made a direct threat to this aircraft".

British Airways has assured passengers they will be able to board another flight later today.

British Airways said: "The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority".

The UK's threat level is now at its highest level - critical - after 30 people were injured in an explosion on a London Underground train at Parsons Green in southwest London.

An 18-year-old man was arrested in Dover on Saturday in connection with the attack.
