Trump fires back, Kim labels him deranged

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has fired back at US President Donald Trump's inflammatory remarks to the UN this week

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has fired back at US President Donald Trump's inflammatory remarks to the UN this week

Trump called the North Korean leader a "madman" on Friday, a day after Kim dubbed him a "mentally deranged USA dotard" who would face the "highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history" in retaliation for Trump saying the US would "totally destroy" North Korea if it threatened the US or its allies.

The North Korean dictator concluded his comments with a final threat to Trump and the US: "I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged USA dotard with fire".

"The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea", he said.

The rare statement from the North Korean leader responded to Mr Trump's combative speech days earlier when he issued a warning of potential obliteration for the isolated nation, and mocked the North's young autocrat as a "Rocket Man" on a "suicide mission".

'Regarding which measures to take, I don't really know since it is what Kim Jong Un does'.

CHANG: Kim lectured the US president, calling his behavior mentally deranged.

Returning insult with insult, Kim said Trump was "unfit to hold the prerogative of supreme command of a country".

U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that Beijing told its banks to stop dealing with North Korea is "not consistent with the facts", a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said Friday, but he gave no indication what steps China might be taking.

Such a test with a live warhead would tell North Korea's engineers whether their bomb design can survive the rigors of flight and re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, says Michael Elleman, a missile defense expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Trump said Thursday he will ramp up economic pressure on North Korea by signing an executive order that cracks down on anyone who does business with the hermit nation.

Share prices retreated yesterday after North Korea said it might test a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific Ocean, spooking most investors who made a decision to stay on the sidelines.

Kim, in his typical style, responded with his own bellicose statement.

Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in committed to strengthen their "combined defence posture, including through South Korea's acquisition and development of highly advanced military assets" and "agreed to the enhanced deployment of United States strategic assets in and around South Korea on a rotational basis", the White House said in a statement.

And the second: "I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged USA dotard with fire".

In the same statement, Kim also called Trump "a mentally deranged US dotard".

Tensions between North Korea and the U.S. have flared up again, with threats from both sides becoming alarmingly regular.

"And, we are engaging with North Korea's most important supporters, economic supporters - their friends, China and Russian Federation to have them engage with Kim Jong Un on this issue", Tillerson said.

North Korea was slapped with new, stiffer sanctions by the United Nations after its sixth and most power nuclear test on September 3.
