"I probably don't feel that bad playing on the golf course rather than watching my sister play", said Moriya, who recalled feeling "nervous, excited" past year when finishing her round to watch Ariya win at Woburn, England.

"When Ariya won the British Open at Woburn past year, I finished not long before her and dashed out to watch her play the last few holes", recalled the big sister.

The 22-year-old Thai was two shots behind pacesetter Park Sung-Hyun who took the lead Friday, 24 hours after Thursday's play was wiped out by heavy rain and fierce winds with the South Korean star stranded at six over after six holes.

This season, she has has had a string of decent finishes, including eight top-10s, and was in the final pairing at last month's British Open at Kingsbarns in Scotland.

"I suppose I'll be nervous, but I want to enjoy my round".

"Whether you're leading or one or two behind, I'm just happy to have a chance".

The only sisters to have won on the LPGA Tour are Annika and Charlotta Sorenstam. "I just keep trying". Annika won 72 times, and Charlotta won once.

Thailand's Moriya Jutanugarn will be seeking to join her younger sister Ariya in the golf majors record book as the first sisters to both win majorsDefending champion In Gee Chun of South Korea, whose 21-under total then set a majors record, shot a second straight 70 to be 2 under.

Uehara, ranked 163 in the world, had seven birdies to move into contention.

"I wasn't feeling too good about my game when I started today, but I played great".

She came into the week confident after turning her form around this year, capturing her first LPGA title since 2010 at the Thornberry Classic in Wisconsin in early July.

"That was a huge confidence boost, especially after struggling for a couple years and questioning whether I'd be playing much longer, said the Yeah, it's just - yeah, nice to know you can still do it at 35 years old and as one of the older players out here".

A chip-in for birdie at the 16th put her into red figures and she capped the rally with another birdie on the 17th to add to her opening 66. "But personally, I feel more comfortable to actually chase those top players from the back".

The affable Queenslander will tee off in the last group of the final women's major of the season in France just two shots off the pace at seven under par on a congested leaderboard.
