USA envoy Haley says Trump 'not happy' with Iran nuclear deal

"It will be a great pity if this agreement were destroyed by rogue newcomers to the world of politics", he added in a clear reference to US President Donald Trump, who addressed the General Assembly the day before and offered scathing criticism of both Iran and the 2015 worldwide agreement that curbed Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

Netanyahu appeared to favor the cancel option, saying he "couldn't agree more" with Donald Trump when the US president said earlier from the same podium that the deal is an "embarrassment to the United States".

Iranian President Hassan Rohani responded to Trump's criticism by telling reporters the United States would forfeit the world's trust if it exited the nuclear deal, which also was signed by France, Britain, Russia, China, and Germany.

"On the one hand Iran is trying to demonstrate they are the pragmatic rational actor here and maintain unity among the other signatories of the nuclear agreement, even if from the USA side it starts to unravel", Vakil told CNN.

"It's extremely worrying", he said.

Rouhani's remarks were a response to Trump's fiery speech Tuesday in which he said that Iran is a "murderous regime" that he put in the same category of rogue nations such as North Korea.

On Wednesday, Trump told reporters that he had reached a decision, but did not elaborate.

"By violating its worldwide commitments, the new USA administration only destroys its own credibility and undermines global confidence in negotiating with it or accepting its word or promise", Rouhani said.

Rohani's comments September 20 were the latest escalation in the war of words between Washington and Tehran, a fight that has largely focused on the 2015 nuclear deal and Iran's missile tests.

Iran's supreme leader yesterday lashed out against US President Donald Trump describing the speech he delivered at the United Nations this week as full of "gangster and cowboy" rhetoric.

Bush, a former presidential candidate himself until Trump secured the Republican Party's nomination last year, criticized Obama's handling of the nuclear deal with Iran, and said Trump found himself in a tough position when he took over the White House this year. American President Donald Trump told the 193-member UN General Assembly on Tuesday that if threatened, the USA would "totally destroy" the country of 26 million people and mocked its leader, Kim Jong-un, as a "rocket man".

"I declare before you that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not be the first country to violate the agreement", he said.

Trump has sent strong signals that he could walk away from the seven-nation agreement, which would potentially lead to new US sanctions on Iran and its worldwide trading partners.

FOREIGN POLICY CHIEF FEDERICA MOGHERINI: The deal doesn't belong to one country or another.

Trump's actions have a timetable - the United States has until October 15 to certify whether Iran is meeting the terms of the Vienna agreement.

Trump announced this week that he has made a decision about whether to certify Iran's compliance with the deal.

"An option may be to start enrichment", he said, "not building an atom bomb". The IAEA has repeatedly confirmed Iran's commitment to the deal. And Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko renewed calls for a United Nations peacekeeping mission to his country amid what he describes as "blatant" violations of its sovereignty by Russian Federation.
