21-year-old Nicholas was arrested on Sunday in Tempe, Arizona in the United States.

Jean-Claude Van Damme's youngest son Nicholas Van Varenberg was arrested at least twice before his most recent assault charge, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

The cops had a chat with Nicholas and his unnamed roommate and discovered he had injured his hand and subsequently left.

He told officers the high-kicking star's son was furious he had opened the door to them. Authorities later found the knife, as well as an undisclosed amount of marijuana.

About 20 minutes after police spoke with Van Varenberg and his roommate, the roommate reportedly ran down the stairs of the apartment building.

He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment, marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He did not have a lawyer at his initial court appearance where bond was set at United States dollars 10,000.

Van Damme, whose acting credits include Double Impact and Bloodsport, has yet to comment on his son's arrest.

Earlier this year, Nicholas appeared alongside his dad in the film Kickboxer 2: Retaliation.

LaPier, who was pregnant at the time with Mr Van Varenberg, did not become aware of this until Van Damme publicly admitted it in 2012.
