Met Eireann issues yellow weather warning for Limerick

The weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for 8pm on Tuesday evening until 10am on Wednesday morning, with Wednesday continuing to be a blustery day even once the peak of the high winds has passed.

Highways England, which is responsible for motorways and other major roads in England, is working closely with the Met Office to monitor weather conditions and maintain safe roads and reliable journeys.

Nearly half of the average rainfall for September could fall in six to nine hours from about 4pm on Tuesday, which "seems likely to lead to flooding of some sections of road and perhaps also properties", the Met Office said.

RESIDENTS are being warned there could be power cuts and damage to trees and buildings this evening as Storm Aileen sweeps in.

This may cause flooding on the transport network, with spray and hard driving conditions due to the combination of rain and wind.

In some places, gusts are expected to reach up to 75mph.

He said: "An early-season storm will aim for the United Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the potential for damaging winds".

Today will begin dry in most places but Met Éireann say cloud will increase.

"It will also feel cooler with the risk of hail and thunder and the risk of gales will last through Monday with the scope for some impacts".

Highest temperatures are expected to be between 14 and 16 degrees.

Please stay up to date with the weather warnings via the Met Office and stay Weather Aware.
