Why Did Apple Quietly Raise the iPad Pro's Price by $50?

The iPad Pro now costs $50 more even though the features are the same

iPads didn't make an appearance in the new Steve Jobs Theatre during the iPhone X extravaganza, but Apple did make a fly tweaks on the sly to pricing.

Apple has increased the price of a number of its iPad Pro tablet computers by as much as £80, citing the rising cost of NAND flash storage in justification.

MacRumors, which first spotted the price increase, suggests the price increases may be related to a global shortage on memory chips, which are used in the iPad.

This brings the 256GB 10.5-inch Pro to $799, while the 512GB model will cost you $999.

Even though it may be easy to look at this and say that Apple simply wants to charge more money (especially when there isn't a explanation from Apple itself), that may not be the motivation behind these price hikes. Worse yet, Apple's tablets aren't believed to have been updated with new features or more powerful components, so customers might be paying $50 more for the same device, according to The Verge, which earlier reported on the price increase. If you were planning on picking up a high-capacity iPad Pro, you might want to do so before the prices jump at every store on the planet.

We started to experience some level of cost pressure on the memory side particularly on NAND and DRAM.

"The impact on NAND and DRAM will continue to be there and we expect it to be there".
