The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a multi-year extension with guard/forward Andrew Wiggins.

He did it on his own timeline, and in unique fashion, but Andrew Wiggins has hit a financial motherlode that makes him one of the NBA's best-paid players. Towns is entering the third year of his deal that includes a club option for the 2017-18 campaign and a $10.1 million qualifying offer for the season after that.

"This is where I want to be", Wiggins said at a news conference to officially announce his signing.

Andrew Wiggins has made history.

The 22-year-old Wiggins averaged a career-high 23.6 points per game on 45.2% from the floor, 35.6% from three and 76% from the line in 2016-17.

"Andrew is one of the best young players in the National Basketball Association and he has the talent and work ethic to get even better and be a foundation for our franchise for many years", Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said in a media release. "We both love the Timberwolves".

Embiid, 23, signed the rookie-scale max extension Tuesday, with the $146.5 million total for the deal based on the NBA's new salary cap projections for the 2018-19 season. "I've been grinding my whole life for this contract", Wiggins said on media day. "We look forward to watching his development in the coming years". There are rules in place that protect agents and Duffy hinted at agent tampering right after being let go. Wiggins and the Wolves have been expected to agree to terms on this deal for quite some time, and now it's official.
